What is a gospel candle-making brunch?!

In addition to being a candle-maker, I am a HUGE fan of 80s & 90s gospel choir music. For a number of years, I served as a musical director and pianist for congregations on both the East and West Coast.

The 80s and 90s were the golden era of Black contemporary and traditional gospel choirs. There's a tribe of folks like me who grew up singing in church, community and college choirs. From Hezekiah Walker & LFC to John P. Kee & New Life to Mississippi Mass, we lived and breathed this music.

So, being the gospel head that I am, I had this wacky idea of a candle-making workshop PLUS a gospel sing-a-long PLUS brunch. Who doesn't love brunch?

Guests will be invited to submit songs in advance for the playlist. We might even play gospel music trivia with prizes. This is certainly not everyone's cup of tea but if it's for you, join us!

About our candle-making workshops:

Join 228 Grant Street Candle Co. for a candle-making workshop unlike any other. Our workshops are elevated experiences providing a time of great food, cocktails, candle-making and fun. We've created a gorgeous event space in our production facility and we guarantee a unique and memorable experience.

During the event, brand founder, Kendal Brown will share simple and easy to follow instructions leading you in the process of creating a 9oz scented soy wax candle in the 228 Grant Street Candle studio. You will have the opportunity to select your own fragrance from our curated selection of premium fragrance oils. 

Candles take about 45 minutes to set, so enjoy a cocktail or two while you learn more about Kendal's journey of following his creative passion and browse 228 Grant Street Candle Co.'s collection of artisanal scented soy candles.

The cost of the workshop is inclusive of all materials, your finished candle, food and beverages. Each workshop participant will have their own clean-burning soy wax, cotton wick, pouring pot, mixing equipment, and amber candle jars. Other than your readiness to have a great time, there's no need to bring a thing!

Attendees will receive a 30% off our candles purchased at the event.
